| A Snippet of Australian Darts History |
|
 In 1946, Cyril Arthur Viner brought with him from England the first Commercial supply of darts, manufactured by Magnatex U.K. who had produced the worlds first plastic flight dart.
However upon entering Australia he discovered that Aussies had never seen a game of darts. He then had to explain the concept of the game
(like little arrows you throw at a board to create a score) it became obvious that he would have to start to make dartboards if he was to sell his TEX darts in Australia!
Now armed with the goods, Cyril had his first customers in Hartleys Sports Store in Melbourne. His Dartboards and Darts were equal with any in the world. So away he went, from working out of his garage to a 30,000 sq. ft Factory employing 50 people and producing 1000 boards and thousands of sets of darts weekly.

Pat "Choppa" Orreal has accepted the 2nd Sponsors invitation into the upcoming Parktrent properties group William cross pro am. Pat, the first Australian player ever to compete on the professional PDC circuit will return to Australia in August to compete in the William Cross Pro AM hoping to win a 2nd appearance at the grand slam of darts in Wolverhampton in November. Pat will need to be the highest money earner over the series of 4 events to be conducted at the Heads Sports and Social club in August.
"i'm very honoured to accept this invitation" stated Pat "it is my aspiration to once again qualify for the grand slam of darts in my new home town of wolverhampton.
I know it wont be an easy task with how much depth there is in the DPA, but I look forward to the challenge and catching up with all my friends downunder"
Northern Territory star and DFA ranked no'4 Chippy Miller has received an invitation entry to this years William Cross Pro Am. Chippy will join Queensland sensation and DFA Champion Ian Brown and Choppa O'rreal at Shoalhaven this coming August and play off for prize money in excess of $100,000.00.
Chippy, currently ranked No1 in the Northern Territory has represented NT numerous times at the DFA Championships and holds many NT state titles including the 2006 Alice Springs Masters singles and 2006 Alice Springs Masters Doubles title with Partner Baden Oui as well as the 2007 Memo Darts Classic Singles title

| Pacific Masters Champion at the William Cross |

Pacific Masters and current DFA Champion Ian Brown has accepted 1 of 4 invitational Entries into this year’s William Cross Pro AM.
Ian, is one of only 5 players since 1964 ever to hold Back to Back DFA Singles Championship titles (2006-2007). “I am very excited and honoured to receive this invite and the chance to compete against some of the best players in Australia" commented Ian. Ian also has the opportunity of picking up some of the largest prize money on offer in Australian Darting History..”

| Dart News: World Masters Champ at William Cross |
|
Current BDO no1 and World Masters Champion Robert Thornton confirmed today he will be participating in the William Cross Pro Am and the PDC's Australian Open Players Championship.
The Scottish star won the 2007 World Masters and this year's Dutch Open, before recently coming through the Holsten Qualifiers to win a place in next month's Blue Square UK Open. Thornton, from Stevenston in Ayrshire, has now joined the PDPA

James won Australia's most prestigious event in 2007 defeating England's Andy Jenkins in the final
Speaking to James today "I had a great time at the William Cross last year competing against some of Australia’s best and I am looking forward to a return in 2008, the competition will be hot". One player looking forward to the opportunity of taking on James is Australia's No 1 Paul Nicholson.
